In October 2011, our most important and long-awaited project was completed, involving the allocation of the new headquarters of the Revolution Memorial Association. This is Pavilion M in Barracks 1079 Timişoara, a ground floor + first floor building with a built area of 846 m22and a total area of 1626 m22, a military garrison dormitory, with the associated land. The building, located at 2/B Oituz Street, can be refurbished and meets the requirements of a Memorial and a National Center for Documentation, Research, and Public Information about the Romanian Revolution of December 1989. Since January 2012, all our efforts and almost all our material resources have been channeled toward this goal, which involves plans, projects, manpower, and also a great deal of creativity. The funds used to pay for repairs, reinforcement, and construction were drawn from annual allocations from the state budget, through the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs (mostly), and from donations or sponsorships. By Law No. 152/2000, the Revolution Memorial was declared a site of national interest.
Monuments
Between 1990 and 1998, a Memorial Complex was built in the Heroes' Cemetery and 12 monuments were erected in the most important areas where clashes between demonstrators and repressive forces took place.
Exhibition spaces
The exhibition spaces host several exhibitions covering the events of 1989 in Romania and in the former communist countries of Europe.
Tourists have the opportunity to take a tour of the monuments in Timişoara, visit our exhibitions, and watch documentary films made by us, which are subtitled in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Hungarian, and Serbian. We provide tourist guides in Romanian, English, German, and Hungarian.
Research center
In 2000, the Revolution Memorial Association was declared by law to be a "Site of National Interest," and the National Center for Documentation, Research, and Public Information on the Romanian Revolution of 1989 was established.
The stated purpose of the Center is to become an operational means of providing information about the events that led to the fall of the communist regime in Romania, aiming to capitalize on Romanian historical information related to the events of 1989 in Central and Southeastern Europe. Because these moments cannot be fully understood without knowing the communist system as a whole, the Center is also concerned with studying the communist period in Romania.
As a result of the Center's documentation and research activities, by 2015 it had succeeded in editing and publishing 29 book titles and producing the biannual magazine " Scientific and Information Bulletin Memorial 1989," (Memorial 1989 Scientific and Information Bulletin), which has now reached its 17th issue.
Publishing house
In 2011, the 1989 Revolution Memorial Publishing House was established. The publishing house publishes books and our association's biannual magazine, which are the result of the documentation and research work carried out at the center.

Activities
1. Activities commemorating heroes and martyrs, preserving and promoting events from our recent history.
2. Researching documents related to the Romanian Revolution and informing the public about the results of this research. To this end, we use various means of public information:
– free distribution of leaflets, brochures, and albums with photographs from the Revolution or photographs of monuments created by the Memorial of the Revolution;
– organization of and participation in national and international symposiums and conferences;
– production of documentary films;
– publication of books and magazines;
– publishing studies, articles, and reviews in Romanian and foreign cultural magazines;
– supporting researchers, students, or pupils who wish to study this subject by making documents from our archive and books from our library available to them.
3. Since its inception, the Revolution Memorial has supported a multitude of artistic and cultural events,organizing various exhibitions and symposiums on its premises.
The Revolution Memorial has been visited by thousands of guests, both from Romania and, especially, from abroad. Among the visitors are: King Michael I of Romania; the post-December presidents of Romania: Ion Iliescu, Emil Constantinescu, and Klaus Werner Iohannis; ambassadors from the US, France, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and the UK; diplomats, civil society figures from Romania and abroad, as well as tourists from all corners of the world.
